Overview

The course examines and studies, with a multidisciplinary approach, the most relevant issues concerning the complex relationship between economy and environment, both from a micro (business) and macro (economies) point of view. EAS explores methods and tools of analysis aimed at sustainable use and enhancement of natural, environmental and cultural resources.

The acquired knowledge and professionalism allow the graduate to carry out work with managerial and consultancy functions, as well as to participate in groups for the elaboration of projects and the evaluation of investments in the environmental and social field.

ECONOMIC ANALYST AND EXPERT IN THE FIELD OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMY
Function in a work context
Graduates in Economics / Economics can aspire to all those professional positions that require the mastery of solid interpretative tools in the economic field and, at the same time, versatility and capacity for analysis and decision in a context characterized by complexity and change.
The graduate who has chosen the curriculum in Economics, in particular, will be able to aspire to a job in research centers and, with more operational tasks, in complex organizations both private and public, be they banks, companies, governmental and non-profit organizations or international organizations. The graduate who has chosen the curriculum of Environmental and Development Economics can be employed in the analysis of sustainable development projects, with attention to a correct evaluation of the use of resources, to an analysis of energy sources, to an examination of possible environmental damages and enhancement of environmental and historical-cultural development projects.

Skills associated with the function
A graduate in Economics / Economics will therefore have to have acquired a versatility and an analytical vision of economic problems such as to make it possible for him to access many types of professions. Among these can be indicated:
- employment with international, national and local economic investigative bodies for those who intend to carry out research with a prevalent application content;
- employment with managerial, operational and consulting functions, with specific expertise in the design and implementation of environmental investments, for the environmental assessment of the application of new technologies by private and public companies and for the management of scarce environmental resources ( water, waste, energy), as well as for the enhancement of the historical, cultural and environmental heritage of the territory for the benefit of the communities of citizens and visitors;
- Employment in national and international environmental agencies;
- Qualified inclusion in managerial functions, or with consultancy functions, in public administrations, intermediate institutions (chambers of commerce, local foundations, local authorities, local trade associations) and in public, private and non-profit companies.
- Employment in companies operating at the retail level, as branch managers for service companies and industry.

Professional opportunities
In general, graduates in Economics / Economics will be able to work (possibly following further specialization in a doctorate course) as an economist and economic analyst at universities, research centers, banks, international organizations
He can be employed as a freelancer in the field of economic consultancy
He will be able to operate with management or analysis functions in companies, banks, public administrations, trade associations and trade unions.
