Overview
The Laurea Magistrale in Economics, held entirely in English, provides an advanced level of education in economics. The course structure and level of study of the LM correspond to what is offered in the international academic arena as part of an MSc in Economics course. The command of knowledge, tools, and techniques of analysis acquired in this programme allows both the continuation of studies to start a career as an economist, and employment as an economic analyst or with functions of responsibility in companies, banks and public and private institutions, and international organizations. The LM draws on the disciplinary skills available in the Department of Economia Politica e Statistica, with its long tradition of research and teaching at the graduate level (the Department has been running a renowned doctoral program in Economics for decades).
Objectives. Students at the LM in Economics acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to interpret micro- and macroeconomic phenomena and processes. The programme is characterized by a high level of internationalization and the emphasis on theoretical pluralism. The exclusive use of the English language represents a further opportunity to approach the working methods of institutions oriented to economic research and of companies and organizations that operate in a highly internationalized context.
Teaching activities. In the first year, the courses, which include mathematics/statistics, microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics, are mainly aimed at the consolidation of general analytical tools and methods. In the second year, there are options that allow students to direct their training in the preferred direction. The courses offered cover the main fields of specialization of the economic disciplines, including economic history. The training in economics is complemented by courses in law, management and finance.

Career opportunities
International opportunities. Students will have access to a wide range of Erasmus exchanges as well as double-degree programmes (a programme with the University of Ljubljana is already in place and a second programme with the University of Marburg in Germany is in the process of being finalised).
Employment and professional opportunities. The LM in Economics aims to train professional economists who can take on roles of responsibility in a variety of contexts: government bodies and organisations, international organisations, public and private companies, banks and other financial institutions, professional associations and trade unions. The acquired skills will allow the placement in positions requiring versatility and analytical skills, understanding of the strategic aspects of the choices and their economic impact, ability to deal with contexts characterized by complexity and change. The programme is also an ideal choice for those who want to continue their studies in a PhD in economics.
