Overview
The Master’s Degree in Biotechnologies of Human Reproduction aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary in the field of human reproduction. The program takes a multidisciplinary approach, drawing on the expertise of qualified Italian and international professionals.
Program Structure
During the first year, students acquire in-depth knowledge of the anatomy, histology, physiology, and pathology of the male and female reproductive systems, the biology and interaction of gametes, embryonic development mechanisms, the genetic basis of human fertility, and the epidemiology of infertility. In addition, students gain both theoretical and practical experience with fundamental and advanced techniques in human reproductive biotechnologies.
In the second year, specialized skills related to the management of infertile couples are introduced, covering gynecological, andrological, and psychological perspectives. Concurrently, students study the application of toxicology to reproduction, including research on animal models and the mechanisms of action of drugs used to treat infertility-related conditions.
The curriculum also includes an overview of national and international regulations governing reproductive biotechnologies in research and medically assisted reproduction. Critical examination of bioethical issues associated with these topics further enriches the educational experience.
Practical Training and Skill Development
Internships and thesis preparation are integral components of the program, helping students develop soft skills such as teamwork, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Practical training in assisted reproduction laboratories includes activities such as gamete analysis and selection, in vitro fertilization techniques, gamete and embryo culture, and cryopreservation.
By the end of the program, graduates are equipped with the theoretical and practical tools necessary to conduct experimental research in the field of human reproductive biotechnologies. They are also prepared to independently develop and present a research-based thesis.
