It gives the tools for understanding the natural processes at the system level (communities, ecosystems, biomes, biosphere) and their modifications induced by human activities.
The naturalistic and more typically systemic skills of the environment will allow to develop the best skills for organizing and interpreting environmental monitoring, assessing the effects of degradation and pollution both locally and at the level of global changes.
