Overview
This course assures all members a solid basic preparation in literary and philosophical subjects. Its articulation in three curricula allows the student to choose between three different specific training paths: the classical philological-literary, the modern philological-literary one (Italianistic, comparative, foreign languages and literature), and the historical-philosophical one (philosophy and disciplines ethno-anthropological). In all three areas the student will learn not only the fundamental aspects of the characterizing subjects but also a critical study method open to comparison with other disciplines.

The three-year degree course in Studies in literature and philosophy has three curricula taught in Italian:

Career opportunities
The graduate in Studies in literature and philosophy is a professional figure endowed with a global, multi-purpose and flexible education, which manages to integrate specific in-depth experiences in the fields of classical and modern literatures, history, philosophy and anthropology.
With regard to professional activities, the groups and categories of activities that constitute the natural outlet of the graduates of the course will be indicated below; it is emphasized, however, that for many professional figures the basic skills and abilities acquired during the three-year course of study must be complemented by specific training, offered in master’s degree courses, first and second level masters courses, doctoral courses (starting from those activated at the University of Siena), in the subsequent educational levels provided for by the legislation for access to teaching. Graduates of the class will be able to carry out professional activities at local institutions and specific institutions, such as libraries, archives and academies, as well as at publishing houses, journalistic offices, foundations, companies and other professional subjects operating in the sector of the organization of events and cultural activities.
