Overview
The master’s degree course in Anthropology and visual studies offers the possibility of a fully disciplinary specialization, thanks to the presence of a differentiated offer of anthropological teachings of classical cut, which however focus on the emerging themes of contemporaneity, and at the same time to practice interdisciplinary paths, in particular those aimed at artistic and communicative practices, at cultural representations, experimenting an original weaving with the area of visual studies, thanks to the contributions of semiology, qualitative sociology, spectacle disciplines.
Program structure
The degree course in Anthropology and Visual Studies has two curricula taught Italian:
- Anthropology and social research
- Anthropology of image and entertainment.

Career opportunities
Graduates, according to the individual in-depth study pursued within the two curricula, will be able to work with public bodies and institutions of a private nature that operate in the field of social and cultural intervention.
Graduates who have studied in depth the anthropology of the image and the show, will be able to access the employment fields of expressive design, artistic production and the various creative activities connected to the enhancement and protection of the cultural heritage, of the museum and archival management, the protection of demo-ethno-anthropological assets, the enhancement of traditional knowledge and expressive skills.
Those who have opted for social research will be able to turn to governmental and non-governmental voluntary and development support organizations, as well as, within the voluntary sector and public social intervention, to those organizations that are interested in migratory flows and the policies of acceptance and control of the processes of exclusion (racism, gender discrimination) and dependency (forms of access to work, political representation). Also the institutions that preside over the positive processes of valorisation of the phenomena of hybridization (scholastic integration, neighborhood) of affirmation of new social subjectivities and new forms of family and collective life, of enhancing the communicative and expressive heritages of the popular and basic cultural tradition.
This master’s degree opens, obviously, to the research sector, consisting both in public university research and in that supported by private foundations and institutions.
